Have him watch the movie 'Sergeant York'.
Alvin York was a concientious objector, until a superior officer showed him scripturally how wrong he was.
He went on to become the biggest hero of WWII.

A MARINE won't pick up a gun again?
Baloney. There's something else going on. There are PLENTY of Christian, God-fearing Marines in the Corps.
This guy has had an attack of the yellow streaks.
Therapy, prison or dishonorable discharge.
Leave it to the media to publish this. Anything to dishonor our military.

Well, if he volunteers (as seems to be the case) to clear mines and IEDs in Iraq, I would be inclined to take him up on his word - surely it would do more good in the greater scheme of things than military punishment he'd receive otherwise.

Because of his new-found religious faith, the Birch Run native is spending his holidays
behind bars as a conscientious objector, convicted by military superiors who see
him as a disobedient soldier.
1. Tape his eyeballs open...and make him watch the classic movie "Sgt. York"
at least a few times.
2. Then "The Killing Fields" (and explain that's what Saddam and now Zarqawi are
all about.
3. If he still doesn't come to sanity...deport him to France.

Semper fi.

Well, I knew there was a reason I wasn't fond of 7th Day Adventists. Do you suppose if a knife wielding maniac rapist was after a loved one that he would hesitate to shoot the bastard? Hell no he wouldn't. And your average jihadi terrorist is a lower piece of crap than the aformentioned knife wielder.

U.S. Marine Cpl. Joel D. Klimkewicz says he's willing to clear land mines and risk his life for his country.Lots of IEDs and mines in Iraq. Seems to me that a compromise could be made here.

I don't have a problem with his faith or beliefs, I have an issue with his change of heart mid-stream.
If you sign a contract knowing that the possibility of combat is part of the deal, You don't have the option of deciding to change parts of the contract after the fact no matter how much you have changed religiously.
It would be the same if the DoD decided after the fact that his college money could only be used to go to a Vo-Tech and not towards a degree program.

Exactly, the title is wrong as well. "Newly found faith lands Marine in jail", should read "Chicken shit soldier screwed up".

more like terribly misguided by whoever brought the Lord to him......sorry he doesn't realize that being a Christian and defense are not mutually exclusive

What an idiot he is!
If he doesnt like fighting, why the hell is he in the army??????
Nathaniel Greene was a Quaker, and he fought in the American Revolution.
I bet the New York Slimes will fwan all over this guy..I can just imagine the headline--
"Gentle Soldier Disharged for Refusing to Kill"
He should have been court martialled.
