Yes, the GOP better wake up and learn how to handle this issue. Republicans fear the clubbling they'll get from the media if they crack down on illegals but it's what the overwhelming majority of people want. Somehow I think the GOP has the backbone to do it.
Bush and the GOP couldn't be more wrong on the Illegal immigration crisis.
Recent reports say that Illegals from below Mexico are bringing in al queda terrorist types and that could spell real Trouble.
Tthe Gop won't do anything until we have another 911 because of this mess.
You only need to listen to Asa Hutchinson to hear the administration's policy. He sure fell into line.
I beg to differ. The repubs don't have anywhere near the backbone to handle this subject ACCORDING TO THE LAW! All they care about is getting reelected. Since Bush is not up for reelection he is going to treat illegal immigration just like they treat Social Security. He will ignore the problem so someone else can take care of it some other time.
If 9/11 did not change their attitudes towards immigration, nothing will. And in the end, the voters will still re-elect when given the choice between a Republican and a Democrat.
Your living in a a dream world. It hasn't even been 60 days yet and Bush has already back peddled on tax reform, a HUGE issue among voters.
If they don't get their shit together pretty quick and do some of the things they have "talked" about for 4 12 years, they WILL get their clocked cleaned in the next election.
You have every reason to "think" that.
Every card the DemocRATS have layed on the table (showing their hand) so far, has gotten taken away from them.
Let's wait and see what "issues" the DemocRATS have left to run on - WHEN THE TIME COMES. Hahahahaha
"Republicans fear the clubbing they'll get from the media" That's the bottom line.Get tough on illegal immigration, he(Bush)is labeled a racist. Republicans will never hear the end of it from msm + liberal elite.Remain soft on illegal immigration, and alienate members of the rep party. I don't think any party is willing to take a tough stand on this issue. Political suicide.
Nope. No-one has the backbone to do it. And, unfortunately, in this climate anyone who tries will be severely bloodied. With recent elections close to 50 - 50, whoever makes the first moves will be demonized and will lose enough 'Hispanic' votes to lose all elections.
They're not going to crack down on illegals they're going to pass the FTAA. They'll be able to hide behind a "treaty" and say "there's nothing we can do". We'll all be one happy family then.
