I wonder if they had to wait for the results of the exit polling of their disenfranchised constituents to come back before they finally responded.

I think this is more a case of, "He may be an embarrassment, an incompetent, a sellout, and an Uncle Tom, but it's our job to say so. Back off."

I question the timing. If they truly were angry at Reid they would not announce it when it would be buried by tsunami coverage.
This is intended as sarcasm... but you never know.

Okay. I should be expecting similar statements from the CBC about Ted Rall, right? Aaron MacGruder? You get my point.

I certainly think Reid is wrong about Justice Thomas. I don't think he's an embarrasment at all.
However - what if someone thought he was? How is that racist? If I thought someones opinions were poorly written, how exactly is that about race?
And why are so many FReepers gladly jumping on to this race-baiting bandwagon?

That's a new one - the Black Caucus defending a black conservative. Something tells me that there's an earth movement under these guys (the caucus).
They, no doubt, are able to sense political realities, and with the Dems comparing gay marriage to their legitimate struggle against discrimination, this partnership with them (the Dems) is getting harder to maintain.
Throw in school vouchers and start rumors that abortion is simply a way to control the black population, and you may start seeing more black votes up for grabs.
It's got to be getting very hard for these guys (the caucus) to go back into their districts and explain why they support the party on these far-left kooky ideas. Maybe the defense of Thomas is a first step in trying to restore some degree of credibility with their voters.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D) Nevada is a big time racist. And a odd ball in general.

A wink and a nod.
Watt's staff likely huddled with Reid's staff to fine-tune the phrasing and verbiage of this letter.

"I think that he has been an embarrassment to the Supreme Court," Reid said, before adding: "I think that his opinions are poorly written. I just don't think that he's done a good job as a Supreme Court justice." If this were a Republican, he'd have been drummed out of leadership for calling a black man stupid indirectly.

I was rather surprised to read about this...the CBC coming to the defense of Justice THOMAS, of all people? I thought that many of the CBC's members would consider Thomas to be an "Oreo" & express their embarrassment as well.

Methinks the democRAT party is trying to find it's soul.
LOL, good luck.
