IIRC, the chapter of Red Cross mentioned above got a bit of coverage nationally.
It was such a mess/scandal that they eventually had to bring a Marine Corps officer
(General, IIRC) on board to gain at least a veneer of respectability.
Red Cross...if they aren't watched like hawks...no telling where the $$$ goes.
I think that at the time of the San Diego mess, the head officer was making
at least $100K/year or more; fiddling while rural San Diego burned.
But that's true of way too many charities.
