Bush to Send Delegation to Asian Tsunami Region

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) will send a delegation headed by Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) and the president's brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, to the tsunami-affected region on Sunday to assess the need for assistance, the White House said.

Bush on Wednesday said that a $35 million U.S. pledge for victims of the tsunami was only the beginning and any suggestions America was stingy were "misguided and ill-informed."

Critics have faulted the president, who has been on vacation at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, for not making a public statement sooner on the disaster that killed at least 125,000.

If it is okay for Kofi to work on the tsunami from a ski slope, why can't Bush work on it from a Texas ranch?

Indeed. One hopes this does not get lost on the American people who have also been insulted as "stingy".

On the one hand President Bush has been attacked mercilessly when he was at his own home for Christmas. On the other we have Annan at an elite resort.

The one who was at home emerges first before the cameras and when he does he is prepared with facts and figures and specifics of putting together a plan of aid that clearly had been initiated immediately upon receipt of the news and has already been put into action, the first funds sent out on the very day disaster struck. For his troubles he is eviscerated by the nastiest of vile scum (aka newspaper editors, liberal pundits and dem congresspeople).

The elite resort vacationer emerges a full day later speaking in generalities, far off "meetings" and a not-so-subtle rebuke that the aid will "never be enough".

Color me disgusted.

"Oh the lengths they go...for dramatic impact they use the latest death toll to criticize the President for what he didn't do and didn't know days ago."

To have spoken on the disaster earlier than he did, President Bush would have to have intelligence sources far superior to those available to mortals.

FoX News Commentator BILL SALMON just predicted on 'Special Report with Brit Hume' that JEB BUSH's being sent to Asia is his baptism in being groomed for the Presidency in 2008.

It has become such BS.

"BUSH'S FAULT"

I'm surprised there aren't t-shirt, mugs, buttons , and stickers.

So ridiculous .

Sending Jeb and the gang is a great idea. Maybe it will shut some of the Rats up.

Do you think they a still feeling there loss on Nov. 2. Pretty bad when they turn a horrible disaster into a political football ...

Yeah, right. Besides continuing to say that it's too little too late, the Rats will just claim that all this is about is grooming the next Bushitler to take his place in the imperial line of succession.

Follow-up to #35 - all the Sunday editorials here in Florida will be blasting Jeb for his "abandoning of Florida's grave problems" so he can "advance his political career by exploiting the tsunami victims."

You're probably right. This will be while ignoring the good sense in sending someone who's had enormous experience dealing with multiple disasters.

It's a terrific idea...I bet Jeb and Colin make an effective team.

Okay, let's compare, shall we?

This article states:

President Bush will send a delegation headed by Secretary of State Colin Powell and the president's brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, to the tsunami-affected region on Sunday to assess the need for assistance, the White House said.

Meanwhile, this article states:

He [Kofi Annan] is going to hold a meeting with the Eu next week, to decide how they will help the victims.
So, who is doing a better job?

I bet Koffi pissed!
