And your point being ????? Freedom House is not the only source that has verified this information. Putin is trying to rebuild the Soviet Union. He rigged his own election, the referendum in Belarus and the first Ukraine election.
Were they smoking some of that funny smelling weed at your John Birch meeting last night, because your facts are way off base?
What orgainzations besides Freedom House? Freedom House founders, quite a few of the most leftist organizations in the world, amongst the list.: The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation The Byrne Foundation The Carthage Foundation The Eurasia Foundation The Ford Foundation The Freedom Forum Grace Foundation, Inc. Lilly Endowment, Inc. The LWH Family Foundation Charles Stewart Mott Foundation National Endowment for Democracy The Pew Charitable Trusts Sarah Scaife Foundation The Schloss Family Foundation Smith Richardson Foundation, Inc. The Soros Foundations The Tinker Foundation Unilever United States Foundation, Inc. US Agency for International Development US Department of State.
Putin won his election with a whopping 76% of the Russian vote in an election which outside obervers agreed was a very fair election.
He has put all his KGB buddies in positions of power, suspended elections of Governors, brought back the red star and the Soviet anthem.
Here is a news flash for you. The KGB is no more, and Putin is not a member, but rather is a professing Christian. It's only natural for him to put into positions of authority men he trusts. NOT EVERBODY IN THE KGB WAS EVIL. Furthermore, the words to the International were replaced, the tune remained the same.
And something else for you to chew on, Russia and China plan on doing joint military exercises next year. The last ones they had in 1999 had the scenario of China attacking Taiwan, the U.S. responding and Russia starting an all out nuclear war against U.S. troops. He needs to be watched carefully.
This year alone, Russia has had joint maneuvers with Japan & S.Korea and then again with the US and UK off the Chinese Coast. Russia also has military exercises with many other countries

Putin seems like a nice person, but when he is looking after the interests of his country, he needs to be watched. Russia has lost pretty much all of it's former WARPACT nations, many to the EU or Nato. The only nation still allied with Russia is Belarus.
Putin's weak, [read nonexistant] response to the Beslan massacre caused me to lose a lot of respect for him. I thought he was a hardliner. But he did pretty much nothing after Beslan.
I mean come on, the terrorists killed BABIES, raped TEENAGE girls in front of their classmates, and then blew hundreds of people up, and what did Putin do? NOTHING!
The least he could have done was nuked Chechnya, or at least a massive artillery bombardment to do to Grozny what the Romans did to Carthage.

Isn't it just an incredible joke that this supposedly conservative site is now regularly posting crap like this from the liberal left? I wonder if FR even sees where it is headed these days?
Increasingly we see the work of Madeline Halfbright, George Soros, and Brzezinski, just like this writing, posted here and hailed by supposed conservative posters.
It's really very sad to see what has happened to FR recently. Invaded by socialists from Poland and John Birch paranoids....what a way to go downhill.
freedom house
"Former CIA director R. James Woolsey, Jr. is Freedom House's chairman and its board contains Zbigniew Brzezinski, Steve Forbes, Dan Quayle, P. J. O'Rourke. Freedom House is funded by a number of foundations, including Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, the Sarah Scaife Foundation and the Soros Foundations."
