With regard to an massive meteor.
The Tidal Wave would probably be the least of our worries.

If the meteor was a few miles long it probably would not only create giant Tidal Waves, but a blast that would be kin to setting off all the nuclear weapons in the world a million times over.
We would be DOOMED.

A meteor did hit the Yucatan Peninsula at some time in the Earths geologic past and it has been estimated that the wave that hit the now Texas coast was a mile high and didnt stop until it hit what is now Dallas.
