Something like was posted last night and got me to pondering. That article talked about reducing by a large number the plan for F-22s. Even though I'm exNavy, I have to say, I'd rather have one less carrier. They go for around 6 billion, without planes. That would buy a lot of F-22s. Of the 12 we have now, only two are deployed. 3 are at surge ready state, 1 is in basic training, and 6 are in maint or post deployment. So for all these carriers we actually only have 5. We need to do more to make them available. Let's keep them forward deployed or on deployment more. Go to a blue/gold crew system like the boomer subs use.
