Egeland, a Norwegian, seemed particularly offended by the $35 million offered Monday by the Bush administration. That is likely just a first installment and nearly nine times the initial pledge of the European Union, which has a bigger economy. Still, Egeland believes more would be available if Western nations would just raise taxes.

How much, or little, has Norway sent? Does Egeland pay US taxes?

Mr. Egeland holds a Magister Artium in Political Science, University of Oslo. He has been a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and a fellow at the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo, and the Truman Institute for the Advancement for Peace, Jerusalem. Mr. Egeland has been Chair of Amnesty International, Norway, and Vice-Chair of the International Executive Committee of Amnesty International.

..Amnesty Int. always seem to have it in for the USA..
