HOW TO WRITE A SUSAN SONTAG OBITUARY
By Michelle Malkin · December 29, 2004 11:25 AM
Washington Times editor Stacy McCain sends along his newspaper's Susan Sontag obit, which begins: Novelist, radical Susan Sontag, 71, dies in New York From combined dispatches Susan Sontag, a critic, novelist and essayist who blamed America for the September 11 terror attacks and once declared that "the white race is the cancer of human history," died in New York yesterday at age 71.
Read the rest here. And then compare it with the rest of the mainstream media's deifications:
A Rigorous Intellectual Dressed in Glamour
Feminist fighter, dies aged 71 The Intellectual Risk-Taker Died in NY Indomitable critic silenced by cancer Liberal bias? What liberal bias? Update: Dave Huber points to another slavering obit from the Philly Inquirer titled "A celebrity intellectual who provoked, inspired" And Josh Trevino has an excellent, uh, tribute at Red State.

This writer notes, without remorse, the passing of Susan Sontag.

Was just scrolling thru this thread and the word 'boerewors' caught my eye.
My sister-in-law brought me a few bags of Simba boerewors-flavored chips from SA.
Damn they are good!

she described her lesbian relationship with photographer Annie Leibowitz as "an open secret."
Shouldn't Annie change her name to Lesbowitz? Sorry, I couldn't help it!

It hurts to say this, but I love her for her brain.
She is a light in the darkness to the liberal media.

I was one of the first people on this forum to point out the "White race is a cancer" quote (with citation). However, give her her props. She did say sometime around 1986, that if we ask the question [I paraphrase], "Which person would have a more accurate appreciation of the Soviet Union, someone whose view was shaped soley by reading 'The New York Review of Books' or 'Reader's Digest'.", the answer would not be flattering to intellectuals.
When I saw this, I knew the Cold War was over and we had won. [Actually, I said to some liberal colleagues in 1986 that if Time Magazine were freely available in Moscow, the Soviet Union would collapse in five years. Gorbachev should have listened to me, or at least to the old appartchiks who knew as well as I did. I think the libs are still scratching their heads saying "Wot happund?".]

Since he was from the NYT, I wonder if he feels the same way about Susan. Actually, Reggie White was from Chattanooga and played for U. of Tennessee.
I meant the journalist that thought Reggie's comments about gays should be included in the obit works for the New York Times. I wondered if he was in favor of including the words of Susan as well.
