Are there any confirmation sources to this story? It orginates from a blog which claims it is a translation from another site.

I am skeptical until I see confirmation from other sources.

I don't know if the report itself is correct, but I believe the story did appear in a Thai newspaper. Also, the earthquake was reported here on FR, and speculation about tsunamis quickly followed. I find it hard to believe that if we can come up with the idea, professionals missed it. Read more at FR expatguy's blog here
