Why, that is not true. My grandparents had to wait and always at great risk until they could receive legal visas to come here. It was hard when they were Displaced Persons with no country to claim them. But eventually they were accepted, with sponsors here, and with promised jobs.

I am absolutely in support of legal immigration. It does make this country great

My Grandmother came here on a ticket and hope in 1919(she did have distant reletives here at the time). My Grandfather came here by himself with only a hope and a prayer in the mid 1910's and went back to the old world and came back.

I'm sorry to buttress your rhetoric, but there was no rhyme or reason to immigration before 1920. If you could pass the health test arriving at Ellis Island, you were allowed in to fend for yourself in America, and a lot of us are now enjoying the fruits of their hard work.

That's why I chuckle at those on FR who wish for a neo-porgrom of new immigrants, when the vast majority of these peoples ancestors, also faced the animus that these people on FR spew now.

Yours is a repugnant post. Congress has Constitutional authority over immigration and naturalization, and the exercise of that authority is nothing like a pogrom. You slur the Founders and belittle the suffering of those who endured genuine pogroms, simply to advance a political point you have trouble making on its merits.

You need to check yourself.

That may have been. Right now, I am referring to our LAWS. Laws can change. If our President doesn't like the laws that prohibit people from sneaking into the country, then he should be fair and announce he is going to push for the laws' removal.

We may be the descendants of both slaves and slave owners here now, too, but we do have the right to speak up on current policy affecting America.

Just because they were fools who let my ancestors in, doesn't mean I have to be a fool, too.

Those foreigners would have been Americans today if their ancestors were as smart as mine were.

But their ancestors chose not to come to America, and now their descendants are crying about it. Too bad.

Key words showing the big differences in yesterday's immigrants and today's illegal aliens.

Pass health tests - illegal aliens now do no such thing.

Fend for yourself - now we give them welfare and free medical care, and they demand more every day.

The current crop of illegal aliens are treated better than most Americans.

You're overlooking the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration.
