I've even developed a resistance to anesthesia drugs. It used to be I was out in a second. Now I feel it burning and get that metalic taste in my mouth. They have to hold me down. The burning pain in the veins is just brutal. Last time they were super generous with the valium shots in pre-op. It didn't help at all. It just made the music more enjoyable. Being operated on to BB King is quite an honor. It takes about fifteen seconds for me to drop out cold now. Amazing the ways the body adapts.

Luckily, I haven't had to be knocked out too many times. It takes some to get me under, but I don't have the same problem you do, thankfully. I do have to be knocked out for any type of procedure though, even dental. They can give me 10 shots in the same place, but I still want to hit someone because it hurts so much. Last summer I had 12 injections in my lower spine to help with arthritis pain...didn't work. The doctor wants to do a study on me, to see what it is in my gene make up, that causes me to not be affected by these medications. My dad was the same way.
Valium is no good. When I took my ambulance ride for the knee, they kept calling the hospital to get the ok to keep shooting me up with morphine. I finally told them to stop because it wasn't helping. They put me under in the ER to put my knee back in position, but when the doc was working on it, I bolted upright and screamed. Thankfully I don't remember it...I was told about it.
