The magnitude of this and other natural disasters should make it clear to environmentalists, Gore fans, leftist nitwits of all kinds, that by comparison, human activity such as driving cars, spraying to kill harmful insects, and using styrofoam cups is of little consequence to the planet earth. One Mount St. Helens eruption is probably more significant than all the cars in LA for 50 years. Global warming? It's caused by the sun. Duh.

It is also time for the public health authorities to stop worrying about burying the bodies..even in mass graves..but to start burning them..the disease potential is enormous.. I agree. I just read an article that morners in Sri Lanka are digging graves with their bare hands. There is no way there is not going to be any widespread disease if the government is allowing them to do that.

One more time can't hurt to say that!
I'm so sorry for the tragedy these people face. Entire families were wiped out.

As awful as this catastrophe is, there needs to be some perspective here.
Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot each usually killed more in a month than will die in this tragedy.

Interesting... I just saw this at the bookstore before Christmas and found it interesting. Hope the author is wrong or we could be in for trouble:
Krakatoa; The day the world exploded
The sound of the island's destruction was heard in Australia and India and on islands thousands of miles away. Most significant of all -- in view of today's new political climate -- the eruption helped to trigger in Java a wave of murderous anti-Western militancy among fundamentalist Muslims: one of the first outbreaks of Islamic-inspired killings anywhere.
