Second, people who weren't in Texas don't realize the depth of emotion over Waco two years earlier. Almost daily news accounts, like this one about OKC, were pouring out (and ignored by the national MSM), giving the lie to all the Waco cover-up. Specter, in his hearings, did a masterful job of paying lip service to outrage, while in effect being part and parcel of the cover-up. Texans for the most part weren't buying.
At any rate, there was a real sense of alienation, to use a calm term. Doctors, lawyers, business owners, dentists were joining "right wing" militias, which weren't so right wing in reality any more. OKC put an end to that.
