Fewer than 2% of settlers in Gush Katif and northern Samaria have signed up for voluntary evacuation with SELA (the disengagement administration). 20 families from Peat Sadeh in the southern Gaza Strip and five families from other settlements have agreed to move to Moshav Mafki'in south of Ashkelon.
The families to be evacuated have not yet received any money from SELA. Holocaust survivors from Hungary founded Mafki'in after World War II. 51 families, mainly elderly, now reside in the moshav.
Prime Minister's Office director general Ilan Cohen and SELA head Yonatan Bassy yesterday convened a special press conference in Jerusalem to mark the first signing up of 25 families from Gush Katif for voluntary evacuation. The evacuation must take begin March 1, 2005, and all the families will be moved to Mafki'im by May 1.
Bassy said, "The residents of Pe'at Sadeh took responsibility for their fate. They want to leave together, not separately. We considered bringing a representative of Peat Sadeh, but pressures and threats prevented this, which we regret."
In response to reporters' questions, Bassy said only a few of the 1,500 families slated for evacuation had contacted SELA to receive advance payments and compensation. Even fewer settlers have signed agreements. Since SELA was set up three months ago, 40 of the 100 enterprises in the Erez industrial zone have applied for compensation. Bassy said the settlers felt that the compensation was insufficient. He warned that that time was running out for the settlers, for two reasons: the date for evacuation is approaching, and there are only a limited number of alternatives. The first settlers contacting SELA will get precedence.

cleansing the land from the monkeys
Are you calling Israelis/Jews living in Gaza "monkeys"? If so, what kind of anti-Semite are you?
