Today's NY Times has a special section, a ten page layout entitled, "2004 THE YEAR IN PICTURES. In full color. Imagine my surprise, then disgust, and now loathing of that paper, when I see that the front page pic..all 22" x 13" of it.what the editors have chose as the the picture that best depicts the year is..well..in their own words..
"ON THE COVER: An Iraqi man captured by American forces during fighting in the Sunni enclave of Falluja sits bound and hooded near a heavily armed marine.."
Mash here: 2004 : The Year in Pictures - a multimedia display
Note the stark image..what it purports to say about America, and our brave troops...I am so mad I am speechless.. Words do fail, and a picture is worth thousands, right?
FYI..please ping the lists
Too bad it wasn't a captured NYT writer who was bound and hooded. Now THAT would be picture of the year! :-)

Ah, but that would NEVER HAPPEN! The Islamic terrorists KNOW EXACTLY WHO THEIR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS ARE. These are protected people, supporting the 'cause' of Islamofascism.
The NY Times is no nore than a leftist rag whose main purpose is to denigrate America.
Their time is coming and it will be the Bloggers and the internet who do them in. Truth is coming.
It is inconceivable to me that those few pictures, of the millions available, are the ones the Times chose to represent the year in Iraq. Despicable.
I was a bit unclear....I would like a US Marine standing next to the NYT reporter. They are on foreign soil. To the extent that reporters are aiding and abetting the enemy with their reporting, they should be captured and held.
My father got a DVD of the WWII "Why We Fight" series. I had seen them before but they took on a whole new meaning this time. Even though the media was left in those days - at least they recognized that during times of war the goal was to defeat the enemy. The films called the Nazis what they really were - liars and murderers.
Funny, but I haven't heard our media refer to Al Queda (sp?) or Saddam's regime/loyalists as such. How times have changed....
Yes Ken they do hate the US. Like most of the msm they claim to be supportive of America and our military, but as most of us already know they're anti-US, and rabidly anti-military(our military).
I like that picture. I'm glad that guy is tied up.
The NY TIMES is bird cage liner. Nothing more.
"inconcievable" -- really? It's totally understandable and conceivable. It's The Slimes.
This is what we can expect, in today's world, from a paper that at one time had high standards and has now sunk to an anti-American tabloid status.
The NY Times has "locked in" its readership to those liberals who agree with its views, and politicians who think it's still relevant, but the Times cannot expand its "blue" readership in a mostly "red" country.
The NY TIMES is bird cage liner. Nothing more.

PETA is preparing a law suit against you for your prejudicial comment in favor of the NY Times and against the health and well being of caged birds.
NO BIRD should ever be forced to walk and/or poop upon a cage liner which is thoroughly soiled and filthy before it is inserted into said cage !!! ;-))
They don't care- they can appeal to readers overseas and in fact, that's what they do.
Oh, I think I'm mistaken...Musta been a dream....
I am speechless. This is a new low for the New York Times.
DO NOT DESPAIR
It is a wonderful picture, it depicts a defeated enemy of liberty being treated humanely by a brave US hero. If the roles were reversed it would be a picture of the marine being decapitated by a POS islamist in the name of allah.
This picture may have been meant as a slight on the military but it will reverberate in the muslim world and generally reinforce the inevitability of the march of liberty throughout the middle east.
