The kids are turning ten this week. They don't know how mean and petty some teachers can get, but unfortunately I do. Hence the warning. They're pretty smart. They were already upset that the only Christmas song in the program was about a Christmas tree, not the birth of Jesus.
Anyway, my husband and I had great fun on the way home, rewriting the lyrics to the Ramadan song that had been part of the holiday offering. I can't pass those on to the kids, or post them here, though.

My point was related to the recollection I have of my boyhood chums and myself .... when confronted by one who'd expressed some objection to what we'd just said, our retort would be, "well, its a free country ain't it?"
Sadly, I don't think that attitude exists anymore.
