I have heard this...
They are reporting that the quake ripped a 1000 kilometer hole (about 621 miles) in the earth's crust.

Strange .... but I just read this and for some reason I remember this.
Revelation 9:1 - And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
