As Jessica Evans' younger siblings feverishly rip open their presents Christmas morning, she waits patiently to hear two little words. "It might take a little while, but then everyone tells me happy birthday," said Jessica, who will turn 14 on Christmas. Jessica, of Rostraver Township, is one of many Mon Valley residents of all ages who celebrate their birthdays on one of the most celebrated days of the year, Dec. 25. And while many said their birthdays sometimes take a backseat to Christmas festivities, their families never forget to save them a special gift or have a birthday cake. "They always save me a special present on Christmas Eve," said Jessica, the daughter of Lana and William Schanz and a student at Bellmar Middle School. Her mother calls Jessica her "Christmas Angel," because she was born 11 weeks premature and weighed only 3 pounds. She considered naming her "Noelle" but changed her mind. Now that she is getting older, Jessica doesn't mind sharing her day with siblings, Lee "Buddy" Evans, 14, James Evans, 12, and Daelyn, 4, William, 2, and Lorena Schanz, 7 months. "She never complains that sometimes people forget to tell her happy birthday," her mother said.

It is an honor to share a birthday with the Lord.
Karl Rove's birthday is Christmas, also.
Karen Hughes' birthday is tomorrow (the 27th.)
Did you ever see the cartoon of the three wise men giving their gifts to the baby Jesus, and the caption reads, "These are for your birthday, AND for Christmas." That says it all ;-)
They should do what my Mom did, and allow her to have a 1/2 birthday party in June. Not only do you get the best real birthday in the world, but you get another 1/2 birthday six months later!
Have a friend who was a scheduled C-section on Jan 11. I razzed her all last week about having a Christmas baby. Well, she missed and the baby was born at lunch time (12:32) today, 12/26. The mother is still worried that the baby's birthday will still get lost in the holiday. The mother's birthday is 12/28.
HB, fellow Christmas baby!
You get used to getting lost in the shuffle. My mom tried the 1/2 birthday trick in June, it didn't work out.
On the other hand you can spend the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas telling everyone all of the parties, good eats and decorations are in honor of your birthday-------and, everyone gets your birthday off from work!
My son, my daughter and I all have birthdays in the next week. As a child wedged between Christmas and New Year, I was sensitive to making sure that they had birthdays separate from holiday celebrations. We got mighty sick of birthday cake, though.
I have the same birthday as Karen Hughes. I remember trying to have a birthday party during this week, never seemed to work out. I just remember my brothers and sister, all born during the summer, tell me Merry Birthday, which still gets to me today.
