We have wanted to have plum pudding with hard sauce but can't find a good recipe. Any idea where I might find a good recipe?

The Wren Song

The wren, the wren, the king of all birds
St. Stephen's Day got caught in the furze
Although he was little, his honor was great
Jump up, me lads, and give us a treat.

As I was gone to Killenaule
I met a wren upon the wall
Up with me wattle and knocked him down
And brought him into Carrick town.

Dreolín, dreolín, where's your nest?
'tis in the bush that I love best
In the tree, the holly tree
Where all the boys do follow me.

Up with the kettle and down with the pan
And give us a penny to bury the wren.

We followed the wren three miles or more
Three miles or more, three miles or more
We followed the wren three miles or more
At six o'clock in the morning.

We have a little box under me arm
Under me arm, under me arm
We have a little box under me arm
A penny or tuppence'll do it no harm.

Mrs. Clancy's a very good woman
A very good woman, a very good woman
Mrs. Clancy's a very good woman
She gave us a penny to bury the wren.

Not only England.

I read in Maria Trapp's book about Austrian customs the following -- that I always wanted to try, but people seem too embarrassed!

The father starts. He raises his glass and says "I toast to you the love of St. Stephen." or words to that effect. Then the mother does the same to the eldest child, and on around the family.

For one thing, we are not together very often on the Feast of St. Stephen. Like now, hubby is at his folks' while I am staying back to do end-of-year, and then I'll go visit my folks. :(

Where is the love of St. Stephen when you need it?

Acts chapter 7 tells us why Stephen was stoned to death (yes, martyred) by leaders of the Jewish nation. That chapter will tell you what Stephen said that made those Jews so angry. In Stephen's preaching to those Jews, as well as in Paul's preaching to Gentile Pagan religionists(Acts ch. 17), the fact that God does not dwell in temples made with hands (physical church buildings) is emphasized. Those who have owned the Lord Jesus Christ know of reciprocal indwelling -- Christ in us and us in Christ, making the physical trappings of Christendom unnecessary, and largely a distraction from the Person of Christ. Christ is all-in-all, and every believer is sanctified from judgment, as his sin debt was fully paid on Calvary's Cross where the Savior shed his Blood as a once-for-all sacrifice. Trying to religiously repeat it denies its power. SAINT means "one sanctified (set apart.) Stephen as well as the Apostles would call every child of God a "saint" therefore. There are not two (or more) classes of believers (e.g. saints and not-yet-saints). All genuine believers are saints.
