What a scare! Our daughter returned from Diego Garcia just before Christmas. It gave us a sick feeling in our stomachs when we heard the news this morning, not knowing if it hit Diego. Glad to hear that you heard from your son and that everything was okay. We will keep our eyes and ears open.

For your info - and the many others here who do not seem to know much about Diego Garcia - it is part of the Chagos Archipelago and is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory. It is LEASED to the USA as - predominantly - a forward mounting air base and is manned by UK personnel.
Fortunately - I hope - I have heard nothing about the quake affecting DG, though I'm holding my breath until I hear confirmation one way or another.
