American Spy - Saddam's Secret Campaign to Stop the War
Accuracy in Media ^ | December 23, 2004 | AIM Report

Posted on 12/25/2004 7:23:56 PM PST by coffee260

If Ritter had been successful, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein could still be in power threatening his neighbors and the U.S. and rebuilding his capability for producing weapons of mass destruction with money stolen from the corrupt U.N. oil-for-food program.

The Plan Unfolds

The evidence shows some interest in the Ritter plan by former President Jimmy Carter and former Soviet dictator Mikhail Gorbachev—and support by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. But were the media secretly supporting the ploy? Ritter says famed investigative journalist Seymour Hersh kept it confidential.

Another key question: Was the leak of an Internet sex sting involving Ritter an effort to sabotage Ritter's plan?

The Secret Contacts

Ritter says he was contacted in December 2002, by Roger Norman, the director of the Center for Economic and Social Responsibility (CESR), about the idea of sending a high-level delegation to Iraq. Ritter says that the plan was "conceptually designed around the figures of Nelson Mandela and Jimmy Carter." The plan died and Ritter decided to take the initiative.

I personally think Ritter ended up in Saddams' pocket because he was being supplied with little boys/girls by the regime, and got blackmailed. No proof, just my hunch. Nothing else explains his 180 degree about face.

He should be prosecuted for treason, as should Jimmy Carter, for what they did in the lead up to the war.

Just my opinion, yours may vary.

"investigative journalist Seymour Hersh kept it confidential"

Interesting ..?? This is the very same Seymour Hersh that O'Reilly was touting during the campaign. He even had Seymour on in a nice friendly conversation besmirching the SwiftBoat Veterans and applauding Kerry. And then .. treating John O'Neill as scum. That little episode did it for me with O'Reilly. I'd been on the fence for awhile - but this was the last straw.

Ritter was definitely turned, and that may have been the method. Keep in mind that it wasn't just Saddam who was involved in this. There were also the French, the Germans, and the Russians, who no doubt employed their various secret services in this business.

That kind of blackmail is standard for the KGB and other spy agencies.

Isn't this Scott Ritter the same clown that I saw all over NBC and ABC prior to the war alleging that Saddam had no WMDs, and that there was no justification for the US to go to war???

Ritter said in published interviews that he withheld information regarding children's prisons, torture chambers and rape rooms because he didn't want to give opponents of Saddam's regime ammunition. He wasn't an impartial observer, he had taken sides. He bought time for Saddam, and,IMHO, he was totally untrustworthy.

Welcome, newby (12-26-2004).

Did you get the DU assignment to do the troll patrol?

No WMD. Right. And no intelligence service, including the French and Russian, knew it at the time.

Why shoudn't John Kerry be prosecuted under the Logan Act as well as Ritter? He had meetings with the North Vietnamese government.
