The whole world is shaking. I got these seismographs from the USGS.gov live internet seismic server.

Any seismologists out there?

There's a bunch more at the link below:

A lot of those are useless traces because they are off the scale. These large temblors overwhelm the sensitive seismometers.

Thanks for the post and the link.

Zoiks, Tscislaw! That looks like my walls after my trying to remove black crayon "artwork." :)

That page doesn't indicate if those are live seismograms or if they are taken during the 9.0 quake. I'm guessing that they were taken at the time of the 9.0 quake.

The whole world is shaking indeed. Here is a sample seismograph of a large magnitude quake (from 5/21/98) as it was recorded from the same station (Albuquerque). The quake was in Indonesia. Notice how things turn back to normal globally after an hour or so...

Now here is a what you posted from the Albuquerque station of the current event. Notice that the beginning of the event isn't even on the graph anymore (it occurred 00:23GMT 12/26), yet the earth's still wobbling like a drunken sailor, more than a DAY LATER!

This is the same at all stations around the world. Compare this:

To this:
http://aslwww.cr.usgs.gov/Seismic_Data/heli2.shtml (Current)

Simply amazing.
