Please consider that Stern is only one show that will be on Sirius. I have two subscriptions and am a stockholder. In my personal opinion Sirius has better content musically. That's why I love it. No stupid commercials no inane DJ's. Plus I get Tony Snow, Tammy Bruce, Laura Ingrahm, Geoff Metcalf and Rusty Humphries. There is something for everone's taste. XM also relies on many ground based repeaters whereas SIRI does not. Whichever way you go you won't be sorry. Satelitte radio is the wave of the future.

My husband has had a Sirius subscription for a little over a year. We got it before our trip from Iowa to Southern California. It was wonderful listening to Music, comedy, Fox and CNBC where the year before there were vast areas with truly lousy reception particulary through Kansas, the OK and Texas panhandle and NM. I am going to subscribe for my office. A colleague just bought the XM portable (?) unit for his daughter. It sort of looks like a walkman. I trust Sirius will be available that way soon.

I got news for all you satellite radio fans who are there to avoid the noise and chatter of commercials. XM and Sirius are both COMMERICIAL ventures - that means they have owners and STOCK HOLDERS who expect a PROFIT which means REVENUE has to exceed EXPENSES. How long do you think your upfront fee plus monthly rentals will generate enough revenue to provide a comfortable return. Even PBS has 'commercials' only they call them fundraisers and 'SPONSERS'. Have fun while it lasts.

Cable used to be commercial-free.

MOVIES theaters used to be commercial-free.

As soon as the staellite companies get a significant number of people hooked THEY will start with commercials. It'll be slow, and occasional, but will increase over the years.

i am not trying to sound like a jerk, but i want you to consider that traditional radio has been run by DJ's ever since it was started, and i am sure they didn't mean to sound insane. as a matter of fact, i am going to be a DJ and i am going to try to be better than those inane ones you listen to. oh and by the way, even though stern is only one show, he is still an indecent jerk.
