""I'm going out telling the story that I think is the biggest story of our time: how the right-wing media has become a partisan propaganda arm of the Republican National Committee," Moyers said...One example of typically good journalism on "Now" not long ago: an in-depth look at the record of President Bush's nominee for secretary of state, Condoleeza Rice, who in her post as national security adviser "dreadfully misjudged the terrorist threat leading up to 9/11, and then misled America and the world about the case for invading Iraq," Moyers concluded."

P.S. -- Funny, I thought the biggest story of the past few decades was the crumbling of the mainstream media as the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party. Guess it's all in how you look at it, eh, Bill?

I don't know about you, but this is now the FOURTH STORY I've seen with this quote. Give it up! Leave!

Good point? In fact, your question, when posed as editorial comment, is probably of a higher journalistic standard than anything Moyer ever produced. As an inveterate opinion journalist posing as a newsman(objective, just the facts), he never managed to live up to any standard of journalistic integrity.

Don't hold your breath. He will hold some MSM title like "emeritus" and use his "gravitas" to continue his partisan attacks.

"We have got to nurture the spirit of independent journalism in this country," he warned in reply, "or we'll not save capitalism from its own excesses, and we'll not save democracy from its own inertia."
Funny, I never thought of journalists as saviors. That is obviously how this one sees his profession.

For the past 12 years, I've co-written a daily syndicated topical radio comedy service, providing DJs and talk show hosts with humorous (and I like to think, trenchant) commentary on the news. Unlike TV gasbags like Moyers or atrophied newspaper columnists, we are not allowed to get stale or rerun old stuff or coast on our reputations. We have to keep our quality high and prove ourselves every single day because our clients are using our material as their own, and if it isn't accurate, intelligent, insightful and funny, they'll just cancel. In a sense, we were bloggers before there was such a thing.
You can imagine, therefore, how annoying it is to me to see so much genuflecting at the feet of pompous past-their-prime pundits like Moyers and Dan Rather, who somehow manage to be right less often than a broken clock.

The right-wing media comprises barely ten percent of all total media sources. That lying scoundrel Moyers knows that liberals still have the lions share of all news sources and reporters. Yeah, we really dominate the news all right. (yuk, yuk)

Catch Bill Moyers late nights in rest areas along Texas interstates. What was it the Ditzy Chicks said about GW? Ahhh, hell . . . who can remember the words of those most intelligence-challenged?
But, alas, it is embarrassing to have to admit Moyers WAS at one time a Texan . . . but he's since been ex-communicated!
