Hmmmmm. Enter the ACLU?
*****
Hassoun was in West Jordan, Utah, for about a week in December, Hassoun family spokesman Tarek Nosseir said. He said there was no indication of a problem.
"We went to lunch, he was upbeat, there was no problem," Nosseir said.

I'm channel surfing all over the place.
Our local news has been pre-empted all morning. Two trains collided the next town over (5 miles away) and dangerous chemicals are in the air. Residents urged to stay indoors and turn off ventilation. Many casualties and an unknown number of fatalities. FBI has been called. Hospital overflowing and University is a staging area with hazmat that looks like pictures we saw during the anthrax attacks.

Thanks for the update, Peach.
It sounds pretty bad.
Prayers for all, including the first responders.
WCG,
Anyone from South Carolina on your list?
See #1604
Could you put this in "breaking news"?
Hi Vel, thanks for the ping!
No, I don't have anyone signed up for emergency notification from So Carolina.
If anyone wants on this list please FReepmail me or MamaDearest.
Three dead so far; 75 treated at the staging area and decontaminated. Thread here, if interested:

oh sh!t.
Thanks Peach, stay safe. Un-nerving situation for all...I hope that they can safely evacuate everyone who could be in harms way. Prayers for all involved...especially the first responders.
Thanks so much.
Weather report just said wind has picked up which isn't good, although by this time I imagine the chlorine is so dissipated that it presents very little future danger.
It can be smelled over 20 miles away but monitors are there and said it doesn't present a danger that far away.
Tunnel Collapse Causes Train To Derail (KY - 1/5/05)
Two Railroad Employees Injured
POSTED: 6:41 am EST January 5, 2005 UPDATED: 8:02 am EST January 5, 2005
GRANT COUNTY, Ky. -- Debris from a partial tunnel collapse caused a CSX train to derail, injuring two railroad employees this morning, the Grant County Sheriff reported.
The accident occurred about 3:30 a.m. off Eagle Tunnel Road between Glencoe and Elliston.
Two employees on the train were trapped for a short time and suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to St. Elizabeth-Grant County Hospital.
The train, consisting of two engines and 41 cars, was southbound from Toledo to Louisville and had stopped in Cincinnati. It was carrying a cargo of automobiles.
The train was not hauling hazardous materials.
Debris on the track caused the lead engine and 10 cars to derail. CSX is investigating the accident.
Thanks for that information. If there's another one, I'm going to be suspicious.
Thanks. If anything happens that will interest this thread, I'll post it here.
Incident in Chicago subway. Sounds like they have cleared out the tunnel. Current readings by the CFD are negative, but they smell gas.

Thanks for the updates. I've just been lying down and covering my eyes which are burning. A five mile no fly zone has been established over the crash site and they aren't sure what it will take to clear the site. House to house searches are being conducted to make sure people are safe.
Situation in Chicago seems secured, but they still don't know where the gas smell came from...
They are sending an empty train through at slow speed. I'd hate to be that train's engineer.
"Here, take your sparking train through this tunnel that just smelled like gas."
