Here in Vegas, you can run a red light, smash into another driver and get away with a parking ticket. Hence, we have one of the highest rates of running red light highway deaths in the nation.
I believe in more punishment for traffic offenders. Make the criminals finance the budget rather than the law abiding citizens.
But $500 for going 4 mph over the speed limit? I suspect there is not a person here who is not a criminal by this standard. I for one am a multiple repeat offender.
I agree. Reckless driving is the equivalent of shooting a pistol out of your window onto a busy street without looking. The car is actually potential more dangerous since the bullet weighs 2 tons, and there isn't a vest in the world that's going to help you.
I never understood why "reckless assault with a deadly weapon" did not apply to the at-fault party of an accident.
