Newspapers use little point and shoot digitals for a lot of the ad shots. News photographers get digital SLR's. The only film is the stuff the pages are printed on to burn the plates for the press.

Current Prepress is straight Computer to Plate, no film.

Not any more......a lot of the newspapers are now starting to go to the digital plate burners....no film at all.

Most of the commercial printers have realized a massive savings on film and are now using Creo systems or others like that.

Digital is the way to go....but it has killed a lot of jobs in the printing industry and have brought wages way down.
