I was not hyphenated in my first marriage, although I did use my maiden name for business purposes. We were both in the same field in a small town and I was accused of hooking up with him only to further my career. So I used my maiden name as my "stage name" (I was in radio)...I took back my maiden name when I divorced the abusive SOB.

You are exempted from every mean comment I make about hyphen broads. Yours was unintentional. Plus, I like you.

Well that makes sense! :-)
I'm not married, but I often wondered what I'd do about my name if I did marry. I'm nearly 15 years working as a journalist, and well, people get used to the name. By changing my name if I married, it would be like 'starting over' - particularly in print journalism. I think I'd have to keep my name for work purposes (at least).
