Makes sense. You have to pick your priorities I suppose. Right now all my letter writing is targeting my daughter's school for its farce of a holiday concert. I have written the principal, school superintendent, and music teacher over the fact that there were no Christmas songs, but instead songs in English and Spanish about peace, made up by the music teacher. She wore a islamic symbol on a sash, a menorah, but no cross. And they sang about a peaceful ramadan, but no Christmas. Anyway, I can only handle one issue at a time or I'd burst a blood vessel. Good for you. I'd argue that what you're doing with the school is far more important than worrying about the policies of some faceless corporation. To quote a liberal.....think globally, act locally. :-)

Songs in English and Spanish about peace are nice. The muslim cresent is nice. Menorahs are nice, as are songs about Ramadan. But.....no Christmas? .....they lost me. Is the school population made up completely of Muslims and Jews? If the answer is 'Yes', then they have a point. Otherwise, that's quite an affront. There are Scrooges everywhere, I guess.

I'd wonder what kind of a person would want keep kids from celebrating Christmas. She must be very bitter.

If it was me, I would tell the teacher that I am celebrating Kwanzaa (sp?) this year and that I was very offended by her exclusion of the holiday. Or.....maybe some winter solstice songs for the large Wiccan population would be appropriate. But then again, I'm a troublemaker.
