Abolition of slavery was a byproduct of Federal Consolidation of powers and was not the aim of Lincoln.

The War Between the States did not start over slavery.

I'm glad that it led to it's end in America though - and though we are still ALL slaves to the Feds, via the IRS/IRC CONSTITUTIONALLY REPUGNANT INSANITY; outright tyranny.

The War Between the States did not start over slavery.

But defense of the institution of slavery was by far the single most important reason why the south began the War of Southern Rebellion in the first place.
