This was a forward base with a mix of Iraqi forces and U.S. (some contractors). We can't trust the Iraqi forces yet. They have too many spies and Sadaamites in their midst.
I would bet a suicide bomber got in there.

Yeah, I am a Nam combat vet. We had many problems with spies giving coordinates for attacks and infiltration from spies within the ARVN.
I wrote an email to the SecDef some time ago telling them to stop allowing reporters to say precisely how many were killed and where. It gives the enemy a bomb damage assessment and allows them to improve their attacks.
We have allowed the leftist criticism and the wimps in Europe to undermine the toughness we need to win this thing. In that respect it is giving me the creeps, reminding me of the idiocy of our leaders in Nam.

Yeah, that would be a very lucky first strike for a mortar. I'm thinking a bomb was smuggled in. Not enough details as of yet.

I think it's high time to let the Kurds do a little "cleaning" for us in some of these areas. The Sunnis would find they are not as "understanding" as we are. This would show these bastards that they better start cooperating or they face extermination from the Shia and Kurdish elements.
Just kick out the reporters and let the Kurds have a free day or two.
