New York Post ^ | December 21, 2004 | KATI CORNELL SMITH

Posted on 12/21/2004 1:17:09 AM PST by nickcarraway

Human remains unearthed from a mob burial site in Queens have been positively identified as two Bonanno capos who were killed more than 20 years ago in a grisly Mafia hit depicted in the movie "Donnie Brasco." The FBI located the bodies — along with personal items such as a watch, a crucifix and a credit card — during a three-week dig at a lot in Ozone Park in October.

No biggie.

We all have our temptations.

I myself, had to suppress the urge to tell my favorite Don Rickles joke on this thread.

This is the major downside for working for 'the mob'.

When you get terminated, - you really get terminated.

Say what you want, but a little town 15 miles south of here has the distinction hosting the very cornfield where the Spilatro brothers were beaten with baseball bats and buried alive. But, HEY! It's a safe neighborhood!

No offense, but actually they weren't.

Tony & Michael were 'whacked' in a basement of a house in Elmwood Park (IIRC) and taken there in a car trunk (natch). This was recently in the Chicago papers. A top Outfit guy has 'turned' to save his butt and is giving up info on hits from the last 20-30 years.

I keep up on this to see if anyone I ... ah.. 'know' pops up. (loooooong story)

Thanks for the clarification! I was abused of the popular notion that it was an open-air hit, done under a clear sky, at one with nature.

No offense, but I don't watch this.

I know (known), met, real life wise guys. The movie Casino comes closest to the truth IMO as to the 'old' Chicago Outfit.

Too late! Now that you've mentioned it, you must share it with the rest of the class.

The most spectacular-if you ask me-was the prominent Mob associate who was under constant police protection, but somehow managed to fly threw the window of a multistory apt. building.

Coincidence?

Hmm...

It's the standard Frank Sinatra gag.

Supposedly, he told this joke the first time that Sinatra came to one of his gigs.

Don Rickles:

(After taking notice of Frank Sinatra.)

Hey Frank! Why don't you make yourself at home and punch out a reporter?

Just to let you know. Half of the "hits" never happened. The cops are told of 15 known bodies in a site and only find 6. The rest were legend.

Dean Martin kept his distance from the mob because people who associated with them usually got whacked. One hood even put a hit threat on Sinatra.

I watched Casino the other night. That scene still upsets me. That is one grizzly way to die.
