You don't push envelopes with aircraft like this. You evaluate them per standards to validate performance vs. modeled data. Obviously there was either a defect or the expected result was not correct. I never got to test fly something brand new but did a lot of post maint test flying. Both can bite you.

Yup. . .you fly the four corners of the envelope. Exceeding the envelope is another matter.

TheF22 supposedly is capable of flying itself through some maneuvers. There were glitches where the pilots standard response would worsen the situation. Hope that's not what happened here.

I understand what you mean. We did the same with semis. But the act of doing the stuff in real world is pushing the envelope.

The models always miss something, or are not implemented correctly.
