Just heard on the news that he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, but appeared to be OK.

When I first saw that plane I knew it wasn't real because of the hot chick sitting in the pilot's seat.

Boot Hill that crash happened back in 92', they fixed the problem since then. This is something different, there have been test flights of the F/A-22 for the past decade, and this is only the second crash. Something went wrong that hasn't happened before.

"This happens during testing so that it doesn't happen when it hits production. It is part of R&D."

Less likely anyways. Planes crash, always have, always will. It is too early to conjecture what the cause of this mishap was, design, maint, or pilot. Losing aircraft and test pilots is simply an unfortunate part of the process. Things are safer now, but the danger will always be there for this kind of thing. Sounds like he got out, thats the important thing.

Hope the pilot is OK, but isn't that a quarter billion dollar plane?

Debug it now or debug it later in combat.....

1.2 billion dollars of our tax money down the drain!

Y'all might want to take an economics class, and work in the private manufacturing sector.

If the ejection lasts more than 4 hours, seek medical assistance... like a pretty nurse.

,,, as it happens, that was the very one Santa had earmarked for you Muttly. It's now in a heavily modified state. A Raptor is still a Raptor (ho-ho-ho!!).

WTF is that??

Cousin Mark "punky" B is an F/A 22 Pilot for the USMC - was the top AV-8B pilot before transitioning when it was still the X22

Something as simple as a seagull sucked into an engine would do it. Or an anitwar protester.

These engines are designed to take a bird and still fly. But if a bird took out an engine, there is still another engine to keep it flying.
