Maverick McCain Is at It Again
Washington Post ^ | Dec 20, 2004 | Dana Milbank

John McCain is back.

In the six weeks since the end of a campaign in which he wholeheartedly promoted President Bush's reelection, the Republican senator from Arizona has wasted no time reasserting his independence from the White House.

Just two weeks after the election, he renewed his opposition to Bush's policy on global warming and urged action against greenhouse gases. He went to Europe and promoted a harder line against Russian President Vladimir Putin than the administration has voiced, and he returned home to take a harder line against steroid use in baseball than the administration had done.

Then, last week, he took aim at Donald H. Rumsfeld, saying he had "no confidence" in Bush's defense secretary. "There are very strong differences of opinion between myself and Secretary Rumsfeld" on U.S. troop strength in Iraq, he said.

The highly visible stands by McCain have revived speculation that he will seek the White House for a second time in 2008. Aides say that McCain has merely been repeating long-held positions and that a decision on a presidential run probably will not be made for two years.

So basically, now that the election is over, McCain can get back to his socialist roots. Nothing new there.

Considering McCrazy wrote a letter to Clinton decrying the Kyoto accords, it would seem he's trying to outdo a certain other flip flopper.

Now he's on the steroid bandwagon. Never mind that the President brought it up in his STATE of the UNION last year.....to much ridicule!

McC announced on FNC that he had NOT given up his dream to become president.

Now he's threatening to hold up all senate business until he gets a boxing commissioner.

The man might be the media darling but to most sane people he's just a plain old media whore.

I'm really tired of McCain. I don't care that he was a POW, the guy's a whiner and a two-faced RINO.

McCainiac would be much better as a DemonCrap.

After all, it looks like he's also got the SoreLoserman's Disorder.

Hey John: Dubya won. Get over it (four years later).

McCain seems to think the legacy media will elect him president. Earth to McCain: As a "social conservative," free-trade, national defense hawk, I'll stay home before I vote for McCain.

LOL! I never knew McWhiner sent XXXClinton an anti-Kyoto letter. I guess next we'll see McCain attend a global warming seminar and arrive in an SUV, then say his wife owns them.

McCain is just playing the media for positive coverage ... although, he may be the one being played by the media. The MSM loves nothing better than having a willing accomplice in playing the divide and conquer game (bash republicans).

McCain will probably get positive coverage in the 2008 primary season. However ... as the nominee in 2008 ... the media would turn on him quickly (to get Hillary or whoever the democrat candidate is) ...

You would start seeing pieces on his role as one of the Keating five and pieces questioning his temper, etc.

I predict his melanoma will take him out before 2008. He works with the camera to hide the scar on the left side of his face. That episode with that deadly form of cancer was a lot worse than was let on. Most people who get melanoma relapse.

" McCain, 68, who reports no trace of the skin cancer he had in recent years,"

It's not the malignant melanoma per se, it's the metastasis, which is usually to the brain.

McCain, Hagel and Kristol apparently live in a parallel universe( I believe it's the planet InsidetheBeltway ) where they think they can get 62 million glass crawling Republicans to vote for their ticket.
McCain has shown tremendous disloyalty to the Republican base and he will never be forgiven. Never.
If I had to describe McCain in one word, it would be untrustworthy.
Or maybe devious, on second thought, perfidious or slippery or fair weather or unreliable, duplicitous, backbiting, double crossing, shifty, insincere.....
So many adjectives, so little time.

McCain wants to get into a position to ask Kerry to be his running mate.

I am from Arizona and I can tell you that he hasn't lost his mind.
The attachment points have all come loose though.
We tried to get him recalled a while back through a petition drive but it fizzled.
Before he decided to run for President he wasn't bad, but once he became a "maverick" he turned into a loon.
Maybe we can outlaw mavericks along with steroid use?
I'll see if John will look into it.

2008

God help us if the choice is between Hillary and McCain. Hope there is a viable 3rd party candidate.
