And she has already started to try to mine that segment. See my post 17. Her 39% would appear to be a lock They already know plenty about her, would vote for her now and I doubt this segment can b dissuaded.
I don't think she could easily fool many anti-immigration types. Her reputation for posturing and machievellian maneuvering are legendary, even among Dems. Dick Morris, for example. However, I wouldn't count her out either. If there is a bad economy and/or one of our wars is going badly, and/or an inept Republican candidate would certainly give her an opening.
If immigration becomes a big issue by '08, I would hope we nominate Tancredo or someone with the same anti-immigration credentials.
Also worth mentioning is that Hillary is actually hated by the hard left, ie. they hate the Clinton's in general for not being total socialists while in power (welfare reform, NAFTA, etc.) So she would have a time of it trying to hold the radical Dem base together while reaching out to centrists and disgruntled conservatives. If she can find just one burning issue and push it and push it.
When will the great Republican hope, the perfect combination of Goldwater/Reagan/and GW, emerge?
