Uh, Muslims constitute well over a billion of the earth's population. The Pope has made it a hallmark of his pontificate to reach out to world, and church leaders. His action reflected his desire to keep open the lines of dialogue.

Perhaps you forgot that Jesus reached out to Samaritans, who were the scum of society.
Comparing the inherent violence of Islam to the low social status of the Samaritans during Jesus' time is a non sequitur.
