Two county deputies shot, along with suspect (Two ARIZONA COPS shot by ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!)
East Valley Tribune ^ | 12/17/2004 | Kim Smith and Kristina Davis

Posted on 12/18/2004 6:45:29 PM PST by nanak

Two Maricopa County sheriff's deputies were shot Thursday during the serving of a search warrant in east Mesa. A suspect was shot by a third deputy.

Deputy Sean Pearce, who is the son of Rep. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, was shot in the abdomen. He was flown to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where he underwent surgery to remove part of his large intestine. Deputy Lew Argetsinger was shot in the hand and taken by ambulance to the medical center. Both were stable.

The suspect, Jorge Luis Guerra Vargas, 22, was flown to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix with nonlife-threatening facial injuries.

According to authorities, detectives with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office wanted to execute a search warrant at the mobile home of a homicide’s investigative lead, but asked Maricopa County SWAT team members to enter first to ensure their safety.

Lt. Dave Trombi said seven members of the team knocked on the door at 111 S. 91st Way at 6:35 a.m., announced their presence in English and Spanish, then broke through the door. They were a short distance inside when a subject opened fire.

Both deputies shot were wearing ballistic body armor, but Pearce was struck in an unprotected spot, Trombi said.

A third deputy returned fire on GuerraVargas, who was alone in the home, Trombi said.

Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Minter said detectives had hoped to obtain evidence pertaining to a recent homicide in Hewlitt Station, a community near Queen Valley.

A hunter called deputies Dec. 5 after he found a body with a gunshot wound to the head buried under a pile of scrap lumber, Minter said.

Investigators found fresh tire tracks on the scene, and the clue led authorities to the mobile home.

Esteban Soto, the investigative lead in the case, was found Thursday in New Mexico and is being detained for questioning there.

Deputies are still working to identify the body, which is described as a 20- to 25-year-old Hispanic male.

Pearce has been on the force for 11 years, Deputy Argetsinger for three years.

Rep. Pearce, said he was in Washington, D.C., testifying on an immigration panel when he was told his son had been shot.

"He is feisty. He will do well," he said. "I guarantee that the moment he is allowed back, he will put that uniform on and be out there doing police work."

Russell Pearce also was shot in the chest and hand in the line of duty about 20 years ago while chasing gang members in Guadalupe.

Efforts to contact Argetsinger's family were unsuccessful.

Ergo all illegals shoot cops. They are all guilty and should all be punished. Still not working for me.

Some of you folks in places like Wisconsin are simply ignorant fools.

Why don't you go find a thread that worships politicians and other government officials? There are more than a few out there.

See yea chump!

I doubt it, the above scum doesn't have a hispanic name.

Only the crimes of Hispanics are covered on this site? I didn't realize this. I really am quite naive. Scott Peterson, David Westerfield, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Gary Condit, Robert Blake, Michael Jackson, etc. are Hispanic? They and others have been covered here. Go figure.

A RinoOBL are those posters who would even call Terry Anderson a race baiter to promote their lawbreaking agenda.

African-Americans drowning in wave
   of illegal immigration

                           By TERRY ANDERSON

THE black community has made great strides in the last few
decades. Racism has certainly not been eradicated, but it is no
longer accepted with a wink and a nod as it once was. We are
proud to see Secretary of State Colin Powell, even when we do
not agree with everything he does. The same with Condoleezza
Rice, the president's national security adviser, and many others.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that in some regions we black folks are so
overwhelmed by the huge numbers of immigrants that we are
being displaced in our schools, jobs and neighborhoods.

That may seem a harsh thing for a black person to say against
brown people, but I don't see it that way. I am an American,
proud of both my nation and my race. What I see in my
community of South Central Los Angeles -- where I have lived
nearly all my life -- is thousands of Mexicans who care nothing
about our traditions and culture, and only want to impose their
way on us. That's not immigration, that is invasion.

It is sad what has happened in my neighborhood. This was a
respectable, blue-collar area of hard-working black folks living in
their bungalows and going to their jobs. In just a couple decades it
has become almost entirely Mexican. They live several families to
a three-bedroom house and keep chickens in the yard, but the
city doesn't care about the zoning violations or the noise of having
so many crowded into a small space.

According to the Census Bureau, nearby Watts is now 60 percent
Hispanic, and it was previously the black community on the West
Coast. No longer.

The immigration situation is really hard on our young people. A
17-year-old kid on my street couldn't get a job at McDonald's
because he didn't speak Spanish. Another young neighbor boy
was thrown into a bilingual classroom at age 8 and was forced to
listen to Spanish all day long. His six-hour school day was turned
into three hours. When his mother asked for an English-only class,
she was told "there are none."

Would you believe that I, a black man, have been called a racist
many times for speaking up against this invasion? I have a radio
program on the subject and therefore hear from a lot of people,
even some in Mexico.

When they call me a racist, I put this question to them: What if a
hundred thousand Vietnamese were suddenly dropped into
Guadalajara? And what if those newcomers didn't speak Spanish,
and further insisted that their children be taught in Vietnamese?
What would you think if they were happy to work for half the
normal wages for any job they could get, thereby putting
thousands of your local Guadalajarans out of work? Would it be
racist to say there was a problem?

When people of good will and good sense hear the situation put
that way, nearly all understand and respect my viewpoint.

Now if only they would listen in Washington. America's political
leaders are the problem. They have been selling out this great
nation for real and imaginary political benefits while ignoring the
dangers. Even after Sept. 11, nothing has been done to plug up
our borders. Another terrorist attack could be 10 times worse,
and it would likely happen because Congress and the president
learned nothing about the need to keep the nation's borders
secure.

If I sound angry, you hear right. Like other Americans, I want
immigration to be legal, controlled and reduced. But as a black
American, I see that the burden my people must carry is heavier
than for many others. I am sure that if Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
were alive, he would understand the fundamental unfairness to the
black community of allowing more immigration than the nation can
handle.

Actually, home grown Americans also shoot cops, see the link in reply #76.

No kidding? I've also heard that some do manual labor.

But what the hey, if you feel to make a joke out of situations of where cops get shot or killed, by Americans or illegal immigrants, that's your right and no one is stopping you.

Thanks, I appreciate your openmindedness and well developed sense of humor.

Sounds to me like you're saying "I got mine and the rest of the world can go the hell. Freedom is too precious to give to others. It's worth hoarding for ourselves."

Serious question --

Do you favor absolutely unlimited immigration?

"I think information like this should be shouted out at America, and especially to the politicians that have encouraged illegal immigration and the mess it brings to our country."

AMEN!!!!!

Both of my hands were energetically clapping as I read your post.

He/She/It won't answer that question. I've asked that entire group ( all 6 of 'em!) How many illegals is enough? They won't answer.

I'd say there at least one billion poor folks around the globe who would pack their bags tomorrow for America, if they could.

RINOOBLs think that 3 million a year streaming in are not enough.

Since all American citizens are presently PHDs in computer science etc, we are desperate for millions of new folks to do all manual and lower skilled jobs like carpenter, welder, meat cutter etc. ( / sarcasm )

While we're at it we should apply the SAME import duty structure on all products from Mexico and elsewhere that these users apply to our exports to their countries. I assure you that would also level the trade playing field as your suggestion would level it for immigration.

Along the same lines. Twenty-five years ago I was involved
in returning a murder suspect from Mexico to the U.S. after
being caught and questioned by Mexican authorities.
The suspect confessed and was begging to be brought to the American side. It seems they had used a cattle prod like instrument on his testicles and they were badly swollen.
Talk about a level playing field.
The mexican criminal class is coming to the U.S. because the U.S. has the world's best working conditions for them too.
They can't lose, if caught they are deported and return within a week, if jailed they have the best living conditions they have ever had and can join with others of their type to take over the prison drug trade.

LOL between tears of frustration with this mess! Some (Maybe most) of our leaders are permitting the degradation if not the destruction of our way of life, our standard of living and our safety and I can't, for the life of me figure out why. A VERY perplexing state of affairs!

What so many posters (not you) don't understand is that the Mexican government wants to send us all those who they don't want to deal with. The poor and the criminal element.

...I'm not the one who went into hyperbolic emotion mode and try to blame a whole group(immigrants) of people for the actions of one.

Dane, we are not blaming IMMIGRANTS; we are talking about ILLEGAL ALIENS.

And for your kind information, I have already explained you that I am also an IMMIGRANT.

Folks who want to help Mexicans should understand that the Open Borders Lobby plays right into the hands of corrupt Mexican oligarchs. We need to take this "escape valve" away from these Mexican grandees, and force reform on them...from inside, from there own people. As long as Mexico's motivated risk takers can just walk into America, Mexico will never change or improve.

"All they care about is paying substandard wages, and no benefits"

These are often the same ones who talk about how greedy their customers are (pot, kettle, black?). Some of the ones in the service industries refer to homeowners as "home moaners" and talk about how their customers never want to pay for anything.

It really is a two-way street, and I see no difference between an employer who tries to get the cheapest labor possible and a customer who tries to get the cheapest product or service possible.

Both groups seem to think that there really is a free lunch out there.

"They don't care if they destroy the American middle class in one generation."

Not realizing, or not caring, that the middle class is likely the largest customer of their products/services.

The RINOOBLs do understand all of this. They're just blowing more smoke by constantly screaming racism, hoping to discourage middle America from taking a long hard look at the social costs of uncontrolled ILLEGAL immigration.

RINOOBLs are in reality just afraid of cutting off their dirt-cheap illegal alien labor pipeline.

They could not care less about destroying the American middle class. They live in gated communities, and their kids go to elite private academies.

They don't care if they are turning the rest of America (over time) into a third world slum. In fact, this is in many ways advantageous to them, as it will result in lower and lower labor costs.

Eventually we will become like Sao Paulo, where the elites flit from skyscraper to mega-ranch on helicopters, because the streets are far to travel on, even in SUVs.

And that will be just fine with the RINOOBLs.

Henry Ford understood that he had to pay top wages, to build a thriving middle class capable of buying millions of Model T's.

That understanding has been lost today, in the quest to maximize next quarter's corporate profits.

So are you going to demand the U.S. fire a dozen Peacekeepers at Mexico for this or will one or two be enough?

With all due respect, the Peacekeepers are unnecessary; build the wall, NOW!
