You would need funny projectiles for penetration of hard shark skin and subsequent fragmentation, coupled with thermal and/or chemical shock. Regular 50 BMG could over-penetrate.

When we water-skied on the Saigon river back into Saigon proper we had to pass under guarded bridges. No stopping.

When we water-skied in Irian Jaya we skied in areas known to be the breeding and migration areas of salt water crocks from N Aussie land. Not a good place to get cute and fall.
