Funny, I just install it, let it create a profile and let it automatically import all the bookmarks and history. Never had a crash during that process. PDF reading works great without any tweaks, although Java can make Firefox unstable.
Well, that wasn't my experience. But I'm using it now, and everything's fine, so that's all behind me.
