Thanks for posting this! I've been in a debate with a few people over the usage of 'militia' in the 2nd Amendment and individuals rights for the past 2 weeks. Plenty of ammo for me to use here! Pretty well sums it all up, hopefully for everyone.

Good tagline. My uncle was a green beret with Mike Force and he got 3 purple hearts in 4 years.

Thanks, although I need to find a new post-election tag.
Curious how many days your uncle was out of action while recovering from wounds related to his Purple Hearts?

Not sure. He liked to tell funny stories, not bad one's. Though, he was shot in the back once. When he was walking toward a jeep at the MASH unit to return to combat a mortar exploded behind him. It peppered his back with shrapnel. He found great humor in the irony of it.

Oh. I see what your getting at. Forgive me, I'm a bit groggy.
My uncles injuries compared to Kerry's?
2 of them required life saving surgery and the third could have resulted in the amputation of his feet. (but didn't) He has also had chronic back pain since, but he's always been a soft spoken and stoic man. Never hear him complain about it. Also, he could care less about medals. He considered himself a professional soldier and use to say that all those ribbons were mainly so officers could look fancier in their dress uniforms.

The analysis of the last four words - shall not be infringed - are conspicuous by their absence. That is addressed by the cop-out at the end: "we do not address the scope of the right". Considering how many words were required to explain the two words "the people", it might be a while before they take on "shall not be infringed".

This is powerful stuff, people. Anyone yammering about how there was no difference between a GW Bush administration and that of John Kerry needs to be hit over the head with this.
Eugene Volokh has a bit on his blog about this.
This is a GREAT thing for the RKBA here in the U.S.

Well, if nutcases, serial killers, and foreign agents present in the US have the 'uninfringeable right' to own weapons, then that causes a problem.
The resolution is likely in language which defines "citizen" of the US.
