Oh, people have heard of him. He was on a station that served 38 states and 6 Can. provinces at night. His
outing/news of his HIV + status made nationwide news. Among talk radio hosts, he was among the best known. He was only on one station...but it's a big one.

I loved this. David used to call Nina Totenberg 'the Temptress of Public Radio', which was the essence of that aging, unattractive coquette's public persona. Sorry, Nina.

I was in the wilds of Northern Quebec, near Hudson's Bay, deep back in the bush and hundreds of miles from roads or electricity.

I was talking to this Cree fur trapper, or trying to talk to him because his English was not very good.

When I told him I was from Massachusetts he got excited and wanted to talk about the Boston Bruins and about David Brudnoy.

That's who kept him company through the long northern nights.
