I don't know what the Yanks were thinking last year ('04). When I looked at their rotation coming out of Spring Training, I laughed. I knew Brown wasn't going to last and Moose would be okay, but the other three were a big "who" for me. If they sign Beltran, the only thing that can stop them will be them ... as in can 3 superstars coexist?
I was also amazed at their apparent blind spot on pitching. They did not seem terribly concerned -- how you could even think of going into a season with no lefty starter, especially at Yankee Stadium, is beyond me. I really do think they got a wake up call. I hear you on three superstars -- it never worked for Seattle. Although the Big Red Machine seemed to handle it pretty well, if you consider Rose/Bench/Morgan as superstars.
