They don't want him. He's too much of a risk. Know about Albert Belle's stint with the O's?

I think The A-Rod Curse needs to be examined more closely

They traded the heart and soul of that team when they sent Paul LeDuca packing.

Gee, and they will do it on a payroll of about $330 million, I hope they continue to lose the World Series.

Actually 2000 is not considered part of this millennium

But if it weren't for the Yankees, Boston would have the largest payroll in the majors, and everybody would have to hate them instead, so the Yanks are in a way performing a public service. Besides, even pre-free agency, the Yanks always had the highest payrolls. I think it's been true since the days of Babe Ruth. New York sports teams in general generate a lot of revenue, and they tend to spend it.

True, I do respect Steinbrenner for his willingness to do whatever it takes, I just wish there was some way to stop him from making salaries to high for other teams to keep their quality players.

It's precisely because of the Yankees that Boston has the second largest payroll. Gotta keep up with the Joneses to compete in the AL East...

I think the only way to do that is to put an end to free agency. Still, over the past few years, teams on the lower end of the salary scale have managed to win some championships, with Anaheim and Florida. Of course, it will always be an advantage to have more money, and the difference is that a team like the Yankees, while they clearly are not going to win it all the time, are pretty much going to be in the mix most of the time. I think you have to say for Steinbrenner, there are other owners with as much or more money at their disposal than him, but they are not willing to spend as much of it. Ted Turner and Peter Angelos, to name two. Anheuser Busch is another. You could also throw the Chicago Tribune in there.

Hey Giant fan - when's the last time you won a Series, eh? How's San Fran been treatin' you guys these days few decades? ;-)

That said, this would only be par for the course for the Dodgers, unless Penny is a lot worse off than everyone thought with his biceps injury. Otherwise, Brazoban is a VERY bright star, but Green is through. I've wanted them to trade him away since before last year.

'I just wish there was some way to stop him from making salaries to high for other teams to keep their quality players'................As long as 'big market' teams like The Yankees and Red Sox can get away with charging their fans 80 bucks for regular season games I'm afraid this trend will continue.

Exactly what I expect from the West Coast version of Yankee fans.

It does sicken me to see a guy making $3 mil a year and cannot hit over .250. I wish I had a job where I only had to be successful 1/4 of the time. Still it is the market and I do not begrudge them the money they make. I do respect the Boss he is not afraid of losing money to win.

Errr...not to POP your BALLOON, EINSTEIN, but the Yanks won the FIRST World Series of this Millenium (2000 - Yanks 4 - Mets 1).

Apparently Yankee fans are so ignorant that, not only don't they know the first year of the millennium, they can't even spell the word millennium.

A certain car manufacturer also doesn't know how to spell the plural of millennium.

"I'm aware that not everyone agrees with this reckoning."

Whoever wouldn't agree with you would be el wrongo, as Archie Bunker would say.
