You have no idea! I got mine done at 18 years old, thankfully they acceded to my request for general anesthesia. Sure hurt a lot while healing. I remember screaming (while changing bandages) to my Jewish roommate at college: "AT LEAST YOUR RELIGION HAS THE RIGHT IDEA ABOUT WHEN TO DO THIS!"
