Michael Moore's Impact on the Election
fox ^ | 12-16-04

Democrats have been asking themselves whether Michael Moore’s high profile during the campaign might not have done them more harm than good.

Al From (search), head of Bill Clinton’s Democratic Leadership Council told a gathering at the National Press Club: "This party has to be the party of Harry Truman and John Kennedy, not the party of Michael Moore. Michael Moore does not represent the Kennedy or Truman tradition in the Democratic Party of patriotism and security.”

The New Republic's Peter Beinart (search) had a more stinging rebuke: "The problem with Michael Moore is, he doesn't believe there is a war on terrorism … This is a guy who doesn't basically believe in American power or American national security. He's a problem."

I can't imagine why Michael Swine wouldn't be a good spokesperson for any organization. He's fat, slovenly, unkempt, bad teeth, balding, unshaven and generally hates the world. (The last characteristic no doubt because he hates himself.)

What organization wouldn't want Moore?

I'm thinking Michael Moore had an absolute impact on the election.

He fired up the base....the Republican base..

The Dems have no doubt taken numerous polls to determine what to say about Mike. Now they can trash-talk him.

Don't listen to these weak-kneed chicken-littles. Make Michael Moore head of the DNC. The problem with the last election is that you weren't liberal enough. Let Democrats be Democrats!

Al From and DLC have had the answer for a long time. However, it took the DNC to lose three straight elections before they "got it".

Not slow enough. I was hoping the denials would hold out at least through the '06 elections...

IMHO, MM personifies exactly the DEM party as it now exists. He is the perfect spokeman and face for the party. But, as well we know, the Dems are a "how can we fool 'em today" party, so the Dems will not want him around, perfectly suited though he is.

Although it's true that the Hollywood libs hurt the demoncrats in this election, it's also a cop-out for the party to place too much blame on them. Ultimately, not many people voted in either direction based on what actors said. Some conservatives may have been motivated to vote after seeing all the liberal celebs, but only really because the celebs helped highlight just how far left the dems had gone. The real problem with the party isn't its style, its communications methods, or its celebs, their problem is their substance, their values (or lack thereof), and their message itself. The celebs helped demonstrate that, which helped us and hurt the dems, but even without any celebs, the problem (the message) was the same.

The problem with the Dems is a lack of internal moral compass that should immediately alert them to the fact that MM is NOT a person you want to be associated with whether or not he would get you votes!

That they have to take polls or analyze post-election results to come to that conclusion tells you all you need to know about the mindset on the Left.

Michael Moore and Whoopie Goldberg perfectly represent the demonrat party.

It's not just the demonrat party they represent, they also represent the "heart and soul of America", remember?

Ol' Michael Moore better lower his profile just a little. Those democRATs are feverishly looking for someone to blame after their loss in the last election.

If he sticks his head up and spouts off like he did during the campaign, he just might get it taken off!

lack of internal moral compass ............... I think their moral compass has been passing through the Bermuda triangle for many moons.

"The problem with Michael Moore is, he doesn't believe there is a war on terrorism …

Actually, Moore believes there's a war on terrorism, but that the US is the terrorist regime.

One benefit of all the recriminations will likely be that Moore won't win the Oscar.

I think they should let him ride the casting couch a few times for the position of Fatter Bastard in the next Austin Powers flick.
