We own dry cleaning store so I know what you are talking about. I also know that the front loading machines are much easier on the clothes than the usual agitator of the top-loading machines. I think you will be pleasantly surprised after you begin breathing again after purchasing one the expensive front loaders--I know I felt much better after the first few loads and was breathing normally after only a week!

I went into the laundry room the other day to find a front loading washer and a "two story" dryer in which the bottom part is normal and the top part looks like a closet to hang stuff in. I had told my wife to buy some new ones because the old ones were falling apart, but I didn't know they even made such expensive machines. Hell, for what paid for that dryer you should be able to drive the thing to work.

A "top loader" literally BEATS the load through the washing solution (water soap and bleach if added).

A front loader, "tumbles" (drops, for those in Rio Linda) the laundry through the washing solution (water and soap and bleach, again, for those in Rio Linda).

This is FAR easier on the fabric, and far cheaper to utilize in that far less water (hot or cold) is needed for the same load of laundry.

BTW, did ANYONE here know that the "COLD" rating used by detergent mfr's actually means using the "WARM" cycle on your washer, unless your cold water is over 50 degrees ?
