"Old time Dems like Ray Flynn"
Oh I don't think he holds out any hope for the Dems. What are they called down South? yellow dog dems? That's what he is/was but sees the advantage in holding on to membership...for reasons of his own.
"The one thing that doesn't compute is the fact that he was pro-abortion at one time. I can't figure that out"
As for abortion...most active and productively pro life people I know (including me) have seen the light on abortion. This may be one reason he is so adamantly opposed now.

One further comment on that, living in and having extensively studied the colonization of, New England. When the colonies were formed, and wanted to become towns, they had to first have a minister, before any town could be established. Any city or town you drive into, has a plaque indicating the date it was established. That date is the date the towns acquired their minister.
How is that not "under God. I have known this as long as I have have studies the history here, but I have never heard anyone state it in an argument over whether we are a nation Founded on Christian Principals. Seems to me that speaks volumes! Just a little "2 cents worth" on founding fathers

"Everyone today seems to think that the U.S. Constitution expressly provides for separation of church and state. Ask any ten people if that's not so. And I'll bet you most of them will say 'Well, sure.' And some will point out, 'it's in the First Amendment.' "Wrong! Read it! It says, 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.' Where is the word 'separate'? Where are the words 'church' or 'state.' "They are not there. Never have been. Never intended to be. Wrong Zell. The Democrats find it right there in Article 52 from the Constitution they want, just exactly as they quote it:
Article 52
(1) Citizens of the USSR are guaranteed freedom of conscience, that is, the right to profess or not to profess any religion, and to conduct religious worship or atheistic propaganda. Incitement of hostility or hatred on religious grounds is prohibited.
(2) In the USSR, the church is separated from the state, and the school from the church.
The Democrats and all those who quote "the separation of church and state" have long ago abandoned the U.S. Constitution and adhere to the tenants of the old Soviet one instead. Just look at what is in it from equal rights for women, paid leave for expectant mothers, the right to work, rest, leisure, housing, education, health care, etc all provided by a
benevolent state as long as you adhere to the
party line. Any
dissent though will be dealt with
harshly.

The relevant books and documents (and monuments) have not been burned and the documents are there for all to see. This was and is a Christian nation founded on Christian beliefs and Christianity, not Buddhism or Mohamedanism or Judaism or Secularism - and Christianity needs to be brought back to public life.
For those who are not content with this scenario: establish another State. But let's be perfectly clear: the fact that it is a Christian nation is why other beliefs are protected.

You can find the basis of every Democrat talking point right there. Every Moveon.org rally agenda. Every college protest. Every NAACP convention. Every Cynthia McKinney speech. It's the new Democrat Manifesto.

I've never heard a Senator 'tell it like it is' the way he did in that speech. Very un-senatorial of him indeed.

You are right...it's scary how entrenched this Marxist/Leninist garbage has become in our society/world.
Nothing short of several Conservative Presidents and Congresses will be able to repair the damage.

I'm a little late on this thread but I couldn't pass over your comment. All Roy Moore was doing was exercising the second half of the establishment clause. Read it.
